We were fortunate enough to be in Dharamsala, where the Dalai Lama's private residence is located, during the holiday honoring the Buddha's birthday and the day of his enlightenment. Celebrations included large numbers of people circumambulating the Dalai Lama's temple, the hanging of prayer flags, and a free meal provided to everyone in attendance. In this photograph, two monks sit, praying for compassion for all sentient beings.
