Using Interest Rate Tables: An Annotated Resource

Abstract

This article includes a discussion of the author’s specialty of law and accounting, but it also includes several Interest Rate Tables, useful to the attorney dealing with the client’s right to present or future payments. The purposes of this brief note are to describe certain of these issues, to supply a set of tables that may be of use in obtaining approximate answers, and to show how to use and to adjust the tables. The availability of a good pocket calculator and a limited acquaintance with arithmetic are assumed. If the reader's skill is greater, or if books of tables or suitable computer programs are readily accessible, his or her reading time will be better spent on other articles in this journal.
