An engineered muscular mimetic (EMM) was synthesized, and its overall structureâ€”porosity, average pore size, and pore alignmentâ€”was characterized and compared to actual decellularized skeletal muscle (DSM). The EMMâ€™s porosity was about 20% more and average pore size was about 85% smaller compared to that of the DSM. Unlike the strong horizontal pore alignment in the DSM, no distinct orientation could be identified in the EMM structure.
