Lives
Abstract
Lives is a collection of twenty-two stories by Hebe Uhart, which I have translated from the original Spanish into English. I first begin my thesis with a translator’s note, where I provide some background on the author, discuss my connection to this project and some of the problems I encountered as a translator, and explain briefly how I chose and compiled these stories. The translator’s note is followed by the translations themselves. I end my thesis by including two of Uhart’s stories in the original (“Mi historia con los animales” and “Mi tío de Lima”) for those Spanish readers who have interest in observing my translation practices.
