Department Head: L. Lanier Nalley

Originally established in 1925 as the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology, the department originally focused on farm finance, farm management and marketing, rural health, and extension education for rural areas. The program has undergone several changes over the decades, adding programs and revamping others, enabling Arkansan producers to compete more effectively in international markets.

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness offers three academic concentrations: Agribusiness Management and Marketing, Agricultural Pre-Law, and Agricultural Economics. Furthermore, students are supported by unique internship opportunities with major employers like Walmart, Tyson Foods, and J.B. Hunt.
