Abstract
In today's presentation, Dr. Laura Rothfeldt, State Public Health Veterinarian at the Arkansas Department of Health, and Lauren Thomas, a veterinarian and animal science professor here at the U of A, provide an overview of diseases that can pass from animals to humans -- and sometimes, back to animals. You'll learn about the major categories of pathogens, the diseases they cause, how they transfer between animals and humans, and the history of pandemics caused by these species jumps. We end by taking a closer look at COVID-19.
