About This Journal

Homeplace: Folklife from Arkansas & Its Neighbors is a multimedia magazine celebrating the folklife of Arkansas, the Ozarks, and the surrounding region.

Homeplace is an open access publication, meaning that readers can enjoy it free of charge. Content is published continuously; a digital issue compiling content published throughout the year is published annually. Special Collections at the University of Arkansas Libraries proudly sponsors Homeplace.

Scope

Homeplace focuses on the folklife of Arkansas, the Ozarks, and the surrounding region. It includes peer-reviewed scholarly articles, reports on work and events across the region, and resources for academic scholars, community scholars, and enthusiasts. Special interest topics include – but are not limited to – foodways, folklore, arts and crafts, music, local history, local historic sites, and unique communities.

Editorial Independence

Homeplace: Folklife from Arkansas & its Neighbors is housed within and published by the University of Arkansas Libraries. The Editors of Homeplace are guided by the journal scope and guidelines outlined on this website. Homeplace Editors have the responsibility of evaluating the scholarly and/or artistic merit of submissions received by the journal to ensure that published contributions are relevant to academic and community scholars of folklife. In their editorial decision-making, Editors consider feedback from peer reviewers and the editorial team. Views expressed in articles and contributions published in Homeplace are solely those of the authors of those contributions; they do not necessarily represent those of the Editors or the University of Arkansas.
