The Law Department became the School of Law in 1926. Initially housed in Old Main, the school gained American Bar Association approval in 1926 and graduated its first class of ten students in 1927. In 1948, it became the first Southern white university to admit an African-American student.

The University of Arkansas School of Law offers a competitive J.D. as well as an advanced LL.M. program, which prepares students for success. The School of Law is consistently ranked among the “Best Values in Legal Education” by National Jurist magazine. Students have unique opportunities to participate in pro bono work, externships, live client clinics, competitions, and food and agriculture initiatives.
