Abstract

Postpartum hypertension is a leading cause of postpartum mortality and maternal morbidity. Complications may arise due to delayed recognition, inadequate intervention, gaps in education, and barriers to care. Telehealth interventions provide a reliable method for monitoring and evaluating patients during the fourth trimester when closer follow-up is required. This literature review analyzed sixteen studies to evaluate the effectiveness of telehealth intervention for monitoring postpartum hypertension. Findings indicate that telehealth improves blood pressure monitoring, reduces hospital readmissions, increases access to care, and enhances cost-effectiveness. Although evidence supports its use, further research is needed to address provider workload, implementation challenges, and long-term standardization before widespread adoption.
