Abstract
This purpose of this study is to determine if children and parents of low socioeconomic status are provided access to reading materials at no cost, will they take take advantage of this opportunity. This study provided books at no cost in a low socioeconomic area where children attend after school programs. Children and their parents were encouraged to take advantage of free reading materials in hopes to increase literacy skills.
