Head of the Department: Jia Di

Originally offered as programs within two separate departments, the Computer Science program and the Computer Engineering program merged in 1999 to create the Computer Science and Computer Engineering Department. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in both programs and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science. Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees are also available through both programs.

Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering aims to improve existing technology and create the next generation of computing hardware and software. Research centers within the department tackle some of the most pressing issues in today's digital world.

In the Fall of 2023, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering merged to form a single, integrated department named the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
