Head of the Department: Jia Di

The Department has been offering the BSEE degree since its establishment in 1897, and has been continuously accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) since 1936.

Electrical engineering, a professional engineering discipline, covers the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. Electrical engineers are in charge of designing and utilizing electrical and electronic components, integrated circuits and computer chips, and electronic assemblies to benefit mankind.

In the Fall of 2023, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering merged to form a single, integrated department named the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
